Robin Catto started DJing after leaving school in 1984 and began his radio career at Sussex University’s Radio Falmer in 1985. In 1989 he joined up with Manasseh Sound, a London-based reggae sound system founded in 1985 by his school friends Nick Raphael (better known as Nick Manasseh), Bill Tuckey and Ed Maiden
Over the years, Manasseh was a regular feature at Notting Hill Carnival, and played many big dances including sound clashes with sounds like Jah Shaka, Fatman, Jah Warrior, Volcano, Aba Shanti I, Jah Observer and Jah Tubby’s. Robin has also DJed as support act at concerts by major acts such as Dennis Brown,
Frankie Paul, Ziggy Marley, Linton Kwesi Johnson, Burning Spear and Sugar Minott, as well as regularly presenting Manasseh’s Kiss FM radio show, a reggae institution which occupied the late night Saturday night/Sunday morning slot for 12 years from 1987 until 1999.
Currently Robin has been running a regular reggae night at Paradise in Kensal Green, is about to start a monthly session at Sporting Clube De Londres in Notting Hill, and presents a radio show on Kilburn to Kensal Radio.
