One Love Festival, a tribute to reggae and dubstep in Kent – Leisure – Kent News

The sights and sounds of the Carribean will transform a slice of the Garden of Engand this summer for a three day music festival inspired by Jamiacan culture.

The fifth annual One Love Festival, to be held at The Hop Farm in Paddock Wood, will offer a visual, audio and cultural explosion to celebrate 50 years of Jamaican independence as well as some top names from the reggae world.

Straight from the West Indies, reggae legend Freddie McGregor and Dancehall King Frankie Paul headline the festival, which is packed full of more new school dubstep bands as well.

Others making the Carribean crossing will be Studio 1 falsetto singer Cornel Campbell, heavy beats band Dub Syndicate, Jamaican singing combo Michigan and Smiley, hit maker and toaster Tapper Zukie and son of the legendary Gregory Isaacs, Kevin Issacs.

This year’s One Love Festival is expected to be one of the UK’s largest gatherings of roots music, set across four stages with the largest reggae film programme list ever shown in Europe.

There will be a children’s area, a chill ouit area, food from around the world, fire eaters, percussion drum circles and burlesque dancers. With this years theme being “crazy wigs”, there will be plenty to see and do in the sunshine.
